Are you single? Do you live alone? Are you adhering to the shelter-in-place orders? I feel like this is about to become a seedy singles commercial. It’s not but it could. Well if you are like me, you are tired of talking to the person you live with…YOURSELF! I love me some me but I’ve heard all of the stories to the point that I can recite them for you. My therapist says, when you start referring to yourself in the 3rd person, that’s when you have dipped into crazy town. Well, she didn’t say it quite like that but that’s the gist of it and some days, I have considered a ride over to crazy town just to see if they are having fun.
I decided to share some of the things I am doing to combat the loneliness I feel while keeping to myself. I now have a full understanding of what Barbara Streisand meant when she sang people need people. Just seeing strangers in the grocery store is a treat these days, at least for me. I am a people watcher so I have now started observing how folks act at the store. I note who has on gloves, masks, glove AND masks. Not because of paranoia or judgement, its just kind of cool to see people not only want to protect themselves but also their community at large. In the news we see so much sadness and bad things but the world I live in, the one I see every day (when I can get out) is very different. It’s filled with awesome people who care about others and do what they can to be a good citizen of the world. Check out what I’m doing to keep my sanity and if you’d like to have a little fun, join me and 5 to 10 others as we Gather With Strangers via video.
Stay safe and be well!
